VP Events Candidates

I am running for the position of Vice President Events in the Faculty of Arts Student Association (FASA) with a vision to create engaging, inclusive, and dynamic events that enhance the student experience. My campaign is built on three core pillars: accessibility, engagement, and collaboration. With my experience as the IR Department Rep, as well as involvement in organizing the multicultural event, the Arts Gala committee, and the First Year Events Committee, I am well-equipped to bring fresh strategies to the role of VP Events. In my role, I have worked also closely with student associations and clubs as well as department heads to plan impactful events.

Goals and Strategies

  1. Enhancing Student Engagement.

    • Diverse Events: I will organize a mix of academic, social, and cultural events that reflect the wide range of student interests. Drawing from my experience planning the multicultural event, I will introduce interactive event formats like themed networking nights, talent showcases, and cross-faculty initiatives.

    • Feedback-Based Approach: I will gather input from students through surveys and open forums to ensure that events are shaped by student preferences, ensuring they’re relevant and engaging.

    • Continuing Successful Events: I will maintain successful events such as Alumni Chat Night and Café and Market Night, fostering community and pride within the Faculty of Arts.

  2. Promoting Inclusivity and Accessibility

    • Flexible Scheduling: I will ensure events are accessible to all students by offering both in-person and virtual options, accommodating varying schedules.

    • Cultural Inclusivity: Building on my experience with the multicultural Event, I will continue collaborating with diverse student groups to ensure events reflect the cultural richness of our community.

    • Financial Accessibility: I will work with the executive teamto secure sponsorships and create subsidized entry options, ensuring all students can attend FASA events, regardless of financial barriers.

  3. Strengthening Collaboration

    • Partnering with Student Organizations: I am committed to collaborating with clubs and organizations across FASA to co-host events. Drawing from my role on the Arts Gala Committee, I will work to create more inclusive and diverse events that foster community and engagement.

    • Broader Community Engagement: I will encourage the involvement of volunteer students and collaborate with other faculties to host cross-disciplinary events, reaching a wider audience and ensuring inclusivity.

  4. Maximizing Outreach and Promotion

    • Social Media Promotion: I will work with the VP Communications to creatively use FASA’s social media platforms, ensuring events are well-promoted and students stay informed.

    • Event Calendar: I will release a detailed event calendar at the start of each semester, allowing students to plan ahead and stay engaged with FASA events.

  5. Structured Event Planning

    • Efficient Planning: With my experience in the First Year Committee and my involvement in event planning across FASA, I understand the importance of organized, well-executed events. I will implement structured planning to ensure every event aligns with FASA’s broader goals and values.

  6. Commitment to Impactful Events

    • Meaningful Experiences: I am committed to creating events that are not only enjoyable but impactful. My goal is to strengthen our community through events that celebrate diversity and promote meaningful connections among students.
