Elizabeth Olufowobi

VP Operations & Policy Candidate

Campaign Platform

Hello! I’m Elizabeth Olufowobi, and I’ve been part of FASA for over two years, through committees and working alongside past execs. I’m running for VP Operations because I believe in making our faculty work better for arts students: one event, one budget, one policy at a time. My platform focuses on three priorities: welcoming spaces, strategic funding, and smarter systems.

1. A More Welcoming & Accessible Arts Lounge:

The Arts Lounge should feel like home for everyone: whether you’re a first‑year finding your community, a queer student looking for a safe space, or a student with disabilities navigating campus. I’ll build on the current work and push further.

I will:

  • Conduct an accessibility audit of the lounge (physical access, seating, lighting, sensory considerations)

  • Install a feedback board (physical + digital) so students can suggest changes in real time

  • Adapt the space for club use by creating a simple booking system within the lounge

My SMART Goal by the end of the year is to implement at least 3 tangible accessibility or inclusivity upgrades (e.g., seating reconfiguration, feedback board, quiet hours) by the end of the fall semester.

2. Strategic Partnerships & Funding:

We need more than just the student budget. I’ll partner with local businesses, work with fellow execs, and find new funding streams to support food, events, and student discounts.

I will:

  • Build vendor partnerships (catering, AV, supplies) to get student‑friendly rates

  • Work with VP Finance and VP External to create a sponsorship package that attracts local businesses to fund events and food initiatives

  • Collaborate with the team to secure additional funding for the food pantry and event programming

My SMART Goal by the end of the year is to secure at least 2 vendor partnerships by the end of the fall semester and help bring in new funding for at least 2 student events or food programs by year‑end

3. Operational Efficiency & Arts Student Advocacy:

Smooth logistics mean less stress for everyone. I’ll make our systems smarter while advocating for the changes arts students actually need.

I will:

  • Streamline room bookings: one simple form, clear timelines

  • Create an Operations Handbook: document everything so next year’s team doesn’t start from zero

  • Advocate for arts students on issues like:

    • fair funding allocation across departments

    • transparency in faculty decisions (no unilateral changes)

    • review of support services (e.g., how resources are distributed)

I’ll work with faculty administration to analyze current support functions and bring student voices into decisions about budgets, space, and policies.

My SMART Goals will be to

  • Cut booking response time from 5 days to 2 days within the first 2 months.

Closing Statement:

I’ve been in FASA for over two years and am someone who showed up, listened, and got things done. As VP Operations, I’ll keep doing that: making our lounge truly welcoming, finding real funding, and building systems that let us focus on what matters, supporting arts students.

One event, one budget, one policy at a time.
